Kosovo has been under attack from Russia for three days. Hacker groups of Russian origin, allegedly supported by the Russian state, have attacked the websites of numerous institutions in Kosovo, said cyber security expert Halil Berisha.
According to him, the attacks targeted the websites of Kosovo’s most important institutions, including the websites of the Prime Minister’s office, ministries, the airport and various organizations.
The reason for these attacks is the military support Kosovo is providing to Ukraine in the war against Russia.
In a post on Facebook, Berisha emphasized that the attack carried out was a DDoS (Distributed Denial of Service) attack, in which the large number of visitors hindered the functionality of websites.
He emphasized that the institutions’ data was safe as the infrastructure had been quickly protected by the authorities.
However, Berisha emphasized that while most sites were back up and running, greater commitment was needed to prevent future attacks.
He added that Russian groups were preparing for another wave of attacks that could also affect other companies and organizations.
