Milos Vucevic is doing everything in his power to persuade Aleksandar Vucic to return him as Prime Minister. Although implausible, this idea is becoming more realistic every day.
Two days ago, Vucevic said that the party was unhappy with Macut, and yesterday he suspended the thugs who were beating up students, which is why Miloš Vučević was supposed to resign at the time. Now that Vucevic has said that they are not guilty and that it is OK that a student was chased through the streets and her jaw was broken in two places with a baton, the reasons for Vucevic’s withdrawal have disappeared.
To give himself even more credit, Vucevic repeated his boss’s nonsense about the streets in Serbia blocking themselves because there are no people on them. He also repeated the even more absurd claim that a third of the voters in one polling station in Kosjeric had changed their position within two weeks and voted for Vucevic instead of the anti-Vučević list.
He only forgot to say that this “enlightenment” was helped by the fact that he sent 1300 people to Kosjeric, or three for every registered voter in that polling station, who used threats and money to bring about such a change of attitude.
Whatever they do, the panic spreading through the ranks of the Progressive Party is clear. Everything they are doing is only increasing the determination of those who are fighting against Vucic, and nothing can change this fact. The rehabilitation of Milos Vucevic will only hasten the end of his regime.
