Putin’s propaganda reaches its peak, says Ukraine started the war

Russian President Vladimir Putin spread propaganda in his interview with American journalist Tucker Carlson, which was recorded on February 6 and published on February 8.

The first interview with a Western media representative was considered pure propaganda.

What did Putin say?

“The war was not started by Russia, but by Ukraine in 2014, and the Kremlin is trying to end the war since February 24, 2022. [Ukrainian authorities] started a war in the Donbass in 2014. All this against the background of opening the doors of NATO [in Ukraine].”

Analysis:

Russia’s war in Ukraine began on April 12, 2014, when a fifty-man commando unit led by Russian citizen Igor Girkin occupied Sloviansk in the Donetsk region. The Ukrainian army launched an operation against them. Russia annexed Crimea in March 2014 following a controversial referendum. The war in Donbas continued when armed separatists supported by Russia occupied Ukrainian government buildings and proclaimed the independent Donetsk and Luhansk People’s Republics.

In 2022, the invasion, described as the largest attack on a European country since World War II, began at dawn on February 24. Russia launched a simultaneous ground and air campaign, launching air and missile strikes across Ukraine, with some missiles reaching as far west as Lviv.
