Today’s “15 for 15” protest is another strong expression of citizens’ and students’ dissatisfaction with the policies of the Aleksandar Vučić regime.
The rally is triggered by the tragic accident at the Novi Sad railway station, which killed fifteen people, but the broader context is dissatisfaction with the state of the country, the dysfunction of institutions and the irresponsibility of the authorities.
Columns of protesters marched from several parts of the city to the Parliament, while students from other parts of Serbia took part in the protest on foot and by bicycle.
On the other hand, the regime’s media is trying to downplay the protests, while pro-government structures have already launched a narrative of possible incidents in order to intimidate citizens and prevent them from taking to the streets.
The protest will last all day and the demonstrators are determined to show that they will not back down until they get answers and justice for the victims. It is increasingly certain that such protests are becoming part of a wider movement against the Vucic regime, which for years has ignored the real problems of its citizens and run the country through propaganda, fear and repression./The Geopost/
