Kosovo President, Vjosa Osmani Sadriu announced on Monday that Kosovo will participate in the upcoming Summit for Democracy organised by the White House. Osmani wrote in a Facebook post that she’s invited by The US President, Joe Biden, to join the summit. “I thanks President Biden for the invitation to the Summit for Democracy organized by the White House and the appreciation for the partnership offered by Kosovo to work towards building a democratic society that respects human rights, which allows every citizen to fulfil its own potential,” said the President.
According to Osmani, the invitation came after the meetings she had last week in Washington. “After the productive meetings last week in Washington, during which I was informed that Kosovo will be part of this Summit, I am honoured to accept the invitation from President Biden. The Republic of Kosovo is a shining example of continuous efforts for freedom and democracy. As such it is a model for our region and beyond,” she wrote.
The President explained that “Kosovo will share its exceptional experience in building of democratic institutions and practices in extraordinary partnership with our international friends – where the United States of America has played a leading role”.
“I am happy that on behalf of the Republic of Kosovo I will present the achievements and challenges we face, and we will work together to implement an ambitious plan for the next 12 months to further strengthen our democracy so that our citizens can sense the benefits of a democratic leadership based on the rule of law, human rights and social inclusion”, said President Osmani.
