The President of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani, in an interview for the British radio “Times Radio”, said that Kosovo is deeply concerned about the events taking place in Ukraine and that Russia is also committed to the destabilization of Kosovo.
Asked what Russia is doing to destabilize Kosovo, Osmani said it generally uses Serbia as a satellite.
“In general, it is using Serbia as its satellite, through military cooperation, military exercises, military donations, economic cooperation and simply pushing forward the Russian way of thinking and acting, which has destabilized other countries in the region, who are trying to join the European Union and NATO. “Russia and Serbia are trying to destroy every value of the West, built in this region with a lot of investment, sacrifice and work,” said Osmani.
The President of Kosovo said that the Russian ambassador together with his military attaché had also come to the border with Kosovo, during September and October last year.
“It is supporting Serbia’s efforts, such as the case of tensions on the border between Kosovo and Serbia during September and October last year. As Serbia had deployed its army around the border, Russian MIGs and other Russian and Chinese weapons were brought in, and the Russian ambassador and his military attaché came to the border to bless the Serbian army, which was waiting at the border. “In a way, emboldening them with the ideas that Russia is now trying to push into Ukraine,” Osmani said, Telegrafi reports.
“Our goal is to join NATO, and we are making efforts for that, as the country with the most pro-NATO people in the world,” Osmani said.
Osmani also expressed support for the Ukrainian people as well as full support for the territorial integrity and sovereignty of this country.
“Obviously, like the rest of the democratic world, we are concerned about what is happening in Ukraine. “We strongly believe that what is happening in Ukraine is a flagrant abuse of power and a violation of international practices by Russia.”
Osmani further said that military mobilization around the border is taking place in Ukraine, but also the digital one through the spread of misinformation.
“In fact, this happens physically in terms of military mobilization around the border, as well as digitally, with a systematic spread of misinformation. “The truth is that Ukraine is a free, independent country and it belongs to the free and democratic people of Ukraine to make decisions about their future,” Osmani said in an interview with British radio.
Osmani said that for this reason, she believes that the event is not just about Ukraine, but about the kind of world we live in.
The President also said that she believes that the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, Boris Johnson, was right when he pointed out that Russia is actively trying to destabilize other regions of the world, such as the Western Balkans, as she said, ” through Serbia as its satellite”.
“Serbia is fully supported and coordinated with its ally Russia. We are concerned about their possible coordination as a result of events in Ukraine. The way events unfold in Ukraine could have far-reaching effects in many other parts of the world. “It is no coincidence that we see challenges to stability in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro and Kosovo from the aggressive approach and destabilizing efforts of Serbia, also aided by Russia.”
The first of the state said that the response to Russia should be unified and that NATO should have a very active role.
“That’s why I believe we need to be unified. Therefore, NATO must play an active role. We hope that a solution will soon be found to stop the flagrant abuse by Russia, which is trying to establish its own rules in other states. “This would be very dangerous,” said Osmani.
