
Kosovo President, Vjosa Osmani Sadriu, accompanied by the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Donika Gervalla and Minister of Defense Armend Mehaj, during their visit to Canada, on the sidelines of the Halifax International Security Forum met with a US Senate delegation, the Presidency announced in a press release.
President Osmani thanked the American senators for the support that the United States has given and is giving to our country and emphasized that the relations with this amicable country are existential and strategic. She assessed that Kosovo is a successful example of American support.
She informed the US senators of Kosovo’s efforts for comprehensive reforms, which specifically aim to strengthen the rule of law and create a favourable environment for foreign investments.
“At the meeting, President pointed out that the inciting discourse coming from Serbia is a source of destabilization in the region, inclusive of Russian tendencies to extend negative influence in the region. She stressed that this influence is intended at undoing the US, EU and NATO achievements in the region regarding peace, stability, democracy and the rule of law.”
According to the press release “the senators thanked Kosovo for accepting Afghan refugees and carrying out the KSF troops first peacekeeping mission abroad alongside the US Army in Kuwait, thus reaffirming the strong partnership between Kosovo and the United States and its contribution to peace and security around the world”.
