The north of Mitrovica has woken up today with several messages calling for resistance after November 21, when the imposition of fines for drivers who drive cars with illegal license plates begins.
Numerous graffiti were seen near the main square in the north of Mitrovica.
As can be seen, the graffiti was put by a group called “Northern Brigade”.
“From 21.11 everyone’s duty is to resist at every turn! North Brigade,” writes in the graffiti.
The last time a graffiti of “Northern Brigade” was placed was at the end of August.
“Don’t worry, we are here – Northern Brigade” and “NATO go home! This is Serbia. Northern Brigade is growing day by day,” this graffiti was placed in August.
The four Serb-majority municipalities in northern Kosovo – Northern Mitrovica, Leposavic, Zubin Potok and Zvecan – have been without mayors since Nov. 5.
The mayors, of Serbian nationality resigned as a sign of opposition to the Kosovo government’s decision to begin the process of re-registering cars with illegal Serbian license plates.
The majority of Serbs in the north, supported also by official Belgrade, reject the license plates issued by the Republic of Kosovo, RKS, and insist on license plates that are neutral to Kosovo’s status.
Other Serb officials in the north-from the police to the courts-as well as 10 members of the Assembly of Kosovo and the Minister of Return and Communities in the Kosovo government, Goran Rakić, resigned over the same complaints. The latter came from Srpska lista – the largest party of Serbs in Kosovo./Telegrafi
