
Nikolai Patrushev is on the US blacklist for his links to Ukrainian separatists. On December 3rd in Moscow last year , Patrushev met with Serbian Minister Aleksandar Vulin. “We have information that militants from Kosovo, Albania and Bosnia and Herzegovina have been recruited to ‘overturn Russia out of balance’, which includes sending them to Donbas (eastern Ukraine). “We are working to confirm that information,” Lavrov told RT.
BiH and Kosovo officials have denied the Russian foreign minister’s information. But just three days later, Putin’s first informant, Nikolai Patrushev, announced his arrival in Serbia to “exchange information” about “militants from BiH, Albania and Kosovo” fighting in Donbas, an occupied region in eastern Ukraine by pro-Russian paramilitaries.
Nikolai Patrushev is a former director of Russia’s FSB intelligence service. In April 2018, the U.S. Department of Treasury (OFAC), in cooperation with the State Department, imposed sanctions on this Putin intelligence officer.
