
NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said on Wednesday that maintaining a secure environment in Kosovo is “key to the stability of the Western Balkans region”.
In an end-of-year greeting to the Alliance’s soldiers, Minister Stoltenberg said that “the world we live in is more dangerous” and that in response to this situation, NATO has taken steps to strengthen the prevention and protection of its member Increasing the defense budget and providing a greater number of forces on standby.
“There is a real war going on in Europe. A new war in the Middle East, increasing tensions in the Western Balkans. Brutal terrorism continues and climate change is fueling conflicts,” explained Stoltenberg.
When Minister Stoltenberg spoke about his visits to various European countries, he also referred to the visit to Kosovo, where he met the soldiers of the KFOR peacekeeping force.
“Last month I visited KFOR troops in the northern part of Kosovo,” he said. “Their help in maintaining a safe environment for everyone in Kosovo is key to the stability of the entire Western Balkans region,” he said.
Mr. Stoltenberg stated that without NATO soldiers “there would be no NATO, no security and no freedom.”/Zeri Amerikes/
