Arvydas Anusauskas, the Minister of Defense of Lithuania, believes that the presence of Russian troops in Belarus poses a direct threat to Lithuania. He wrote about this on his Facebook page.

“In the current situation, we consider the introduction of the Russian armed forces into Belarus not only as a factor destabilizing the security situation, but also as an even greater direct threat to Lithuania,” the Minister wrote.

Belarus and Russia will hold the drills “Union Resolve – 2022”, aimed at practicing counteraction to Poland, Ukraine and the Baltic countries. The exercise will be held as a part of the inspection of the Union State’s rapid reaction forces. Russian troops have already begun to arrive in Belarus.
