Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov will visit China on Monday and Tuesday to discuss the war in Ukraine and the deepening of the partnership between Moscow and Beijing.
The talks between Mr. Lavrov and Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, who had invited the Russian minister to visit, will focus on bilateral cooperation as well as “hot topics” such as the crisis in Ukraine and the Asia-Pacific region, the Foreign Ministry Affairs said.
According to reports, Russian President Vladimir Putin will travel to China in May for talks with Chinese President Xi Jinping. The visit would be the Kremlin leader’s first trip abroad since taking office as the new president.
China and Russia declared a “comprehensive” partnership in February 2022, when Putin visited Beijing just days before the start of aggression in Ukraine, Europe’s deadliest ground war since World War II.
