The purchase of Javelin anti-tank missiles from Kosovo has made Russia nervous. It was the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Russia, Sergey Lavrov, and the spokeswoman of this department, Maria Zakharova, who reacted first by supporting Serbia and even criticizing the European Union.
Russian minister, Sergey Lvrov said that Russia will always be with Serbia, writes The Geopost.
For the Serbian propaganda medium “Sputnik”, he continued his disinformation that allegedly “in Kosovo, they are working against the Serbs”.
Lavrov emphasized that the Albanian factor in the Balkans is very serious and that the problem can escalate. While he went even further accusing the European Union.
“The European Union should be ashamed, because in 2013 so many bells rang that the Kosovo problem was solved. It’s not even close. And now, as when it comes to any other issue, when the agreement must be fulfilled, they withdraw their hand in favor of the party that is closest to them in the specific case and closest to them, of course, are the Albanians of Kosovo, because they have sworn loyalty, they want to join NATO and follow the instructions of the EU, if they want the Albanian problem not to explode in the Balkans”, he said.
While Zakharova strongly condemned the decision of the USA to sell anti-tank missiles to Kosovo.
“We strongly condemn any attempt to arm the illegal paramilitary structures in Pristina,” Zaharova said at the conference, holding Belgrade’s line in its propaganda against the Kosovo army.
Zaharova’s reaction comes after the US State Department said that on January 11, the US administration notified Congress of the Foreign Military Sales (FMS) program proposal for the sale of Javelin missiles and other related equipment to Kosovo.
Kosovo has made a request to buy Javelin missiles worth 75 million dollars. It is about 246 anti-tank missiles of this type, which are produced by the USA, according to an announcement by the US Agency for Security Cooperation.
