The European Parliament’s rapporteur on the dialogue with Moscow, Andrius Kubilius, said that the Serbian political elite should understand that Russian President Vladimir Putin is losing the war in the country and that it is time to pick the right side.
The former Prime Minister of Lithuania says that Serbia should clearly define its position thanks to politics, as according to him the future of the country depends on its rules.
“I think it is better to be on the side of those who will adapt and not with those who make them lose the war. “Democracy will finally win, I have no doubt about that,” said Kubilius in an interview with Serbian media.
He stresses that the current Kremlin should not recover.
“The war must be with full victory involving the West and that Russian military forces must be defeated domestically.
“This is necessary because we do not have to keep the current Kremlin from recovering and attacking another place near it in two or three years,” he said.
Kubilius says leaders in Serbia need to think seriously and look at the long-term planet.
“The advice for political leaders in Serbia is to think seriously and look at events at the local level. There will definitely be no room for Putin and his government in Russia. Certainly, some people within the EU will form their own image and position towards Serbia in the family of how it behaved in this crucial strategic period.
“I think it is better to be on the side of those who will win and not with those who make them lose the war,” Kubilius concluded.
Serbia is the only country in the region that has refused to impose sanctions on Russia and through protests that has given Russian military aggression to the conflict.
