“The Republika Srpska leadership is undermining the constitutional and legal order, threatening the fundamental freedom of all citizens. These actions are contrary to the commitments that Bosnia and Herzegovina has undertaken on its path towards the European Union”, she said during a visit to the Butmir base in Sarajevo, where she met with Eufor members deployed in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
It stressed that it would not tolerate any threats to the territorial integrity, sovereignty and constitutional order of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
“Any attempt to break up the country is unacceptable”, she said, recalling that in March hundreds of additional troops were deployed to Operation Althea to send a clear message that the EU remains firmly committed to the stability of the region and the security of BiH.
“The people of Bosnia and Herzegovina deserve nothing less than stability and prosperity. The European Union will always remain the country’s most stable and reliable partner,” underlined Mr Kallas.
For every challenge the country faces, she stressed that it has always had the support of the European Union and NATO, which is why they also support their own armed forces.
“Progress on the path to the EU remains the best guarantee of security and prosperity,” added Ms Kallas, who will continue her visit to BiH at the BiH Parliamentary Assembly building, where she will meet with the President of the BiH Council of Ministers, Borjana Krišta, and then with members of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
She said that political leaders in BiH must work together to solve the problems in the country.
