US President Joe Biden has held a press conference following the recent Russian aggression against Ukraine.
Biden has said that new sanctions will be prepared against all senior Russian politicians and their families, asking ” Who in the Lord’s name does Putin think gives him the right to declare new so-called countries.”
“Who in the Lord’s name does Putin think gives him the right to declare new so-called countries on territory that belonged to his neighbor’s” he said in a live conference.
US President Biden spoke about the crisis in Ukraine and warned of additional sanctions against Russia.
Speaking at the White House, he said he believed Putin’s speech showed that he had no interest in “pursuing a real dialogue” on European security.
“He indirectly threatened territories previously held by Russia, including nations that today are thriving democracies and members of NATO,” Biden said. “He explicitly threatened more if his extreme demands were not met.”
Biden says he has been in constant contact with European leaders, including Ukrainian President Zelensky.
The US, its allies and partners have worked together, he says.
“We are united in our support for Ukraine. We are united in our opposition to Russian aggression. “We are united in our determination to defend our NATO alliance.”
Biden said he did not intend to attack Russia, but that he would strengthen all NATO member states in Eastern Europe.
