How are the Russian media propagating the invasion of Ukraine?

The Kremlin-controlled Russian media are portraying the attack in Ukraine as a “self-defense measure.”

Many televisions quoted Defense Minister Sergey Shoigu as saying that “high-precision weapons were used by the military – posing no danger to civilians.”

Rossiya 1 TV started the news bulletin with, “Russia today launched the military operation, in order to protect the people who for eight years were subject to abuse and genocide by the regime in Kiev”,

This is another proof that the news there is edited by the Kremlin.

And several other news bulletins have broadcast messages from citizens in separatist regions in eastern Ukraine. Rossiya 24, on the other hand, shows two men talking to a journalist in Donetsk.

“It’s interesting, I have no words to describe it,” said one man, referring to the Russian attack on Ukraine.

Another said, “he is happy and has been waiting for this for eight years.”
