MEP Viola Von Cramon has demanded the imposition of sanctions by the European Union on the Russian paramilitary group Wagner.
Cramon said in a speech to the European Parliament that the EU must act, as the killings carried out by this Kremlin-backed group are not a business but a crime against humanity.
“The European Union must impose tough sanctions [against Wagner] to show that murder is not a business, it is a crime against humanity,” Von Cramon wrote on Twitter.
“Death is our business & business is going well” – ?? #Russia‘s #WagnerGroup & other ☠#mercenaries dare to operate under this motto because we allow them to do so. ??EU needs to impose the strictest sanctions to show that killing is not a business, it is crime against #humanity! pic.twitter.com/9cPDyhVuIm

According to her, the brain of this industry is a close friend of President [Vladimir] Putin, [Yevgeny] Prigogine, who honors his assassins with multi-million dollar contracts.
Days ago, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken warned Wagner about their involvement in Mali.
“It is unfortunate if outside actors commit to making things even more difficult and complicated, especially from the Wagner group,” Blinken said.
The mercenary group, which Western capitals see as closely linked to the Kremlin, has been present in conflicts, as in Ukraine, Africa and the Middle East.
