The President of Republika Srpska, Milorad Dodik, signed decrees banning the activities of the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the State Investigation and Protection Agency (SIPA) and the High Judicial and Prosecutorial Council of Bosnia and Herzegovina (HJSC) in the territory.
Interestingly, Dodik received support from Russian ultranationalist ideologue Alexander Dugin, who is known for his extreme views and closeness to the Kremlin.
Dugin stated on the social network X that Dodik is suspected of being under pressure from the “Euroglobalist government” and is therefore seeking Russian support from US President Donald Trump.
“Milorad Dodik is in conflict with the Euroglobalist government and chooses Russia instead.” “It is under attack and has no choice but to join Serbia,” wrote Dugin.
At the same time, the High Representative in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Christian Schmidt, is considering the possibility of using Bonn’s powers to override these laws. However, Dodik has already threatened that such a move could lead to the withdrawal of Republika Srpska from state institutions, which would further exacerbate the crisis.
Dodik’s moves come shortly after a court in Bosnia and Herzegovina sentenced him to a year in prison and a six-year ban from holding public office.
Russia reacted quickly to Milorad Dodik’s decision, condemning the one-year prison sentence and the ban on political activity as allegedly politically motivated decisions. The Kremlin described the decision as an attempt to destabilize the region.
