The President of Republika Srpska (RS), Milorad Dodik, has threatened to withdraw support for Bosnia and Herzegovina’s (BiH) European path, stating that he expects a strong ally, alluding to Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban in the future.
Dodik even claimed that RS has no reason to give in to anyone now, adding that “Sarajeva will have to beg if it wants to get anything soon.”
“As for the European Union (EU), everything seems confused – if you read the analysis of neoliberal supporters, they seem lost and unsure what to do.”
Dodik said the European Union was not the only target, referring to the BRICS countries, a platform of states chaired by Russia.
“All European values have been trampled on and lost.” Why do you think you are the only target? After three years of obstruction and continued silence about what Christian Schmidt (High Representative) and Michael Murphy (US Ambassador) have done in Bosnia and Herzegovina, how can you suddenly expect credibility? Tomorrow I will discuss this with some ambassadors in Sarajevo,” Dodik said.
Dodik, who is under US sanctions, has long been threatening to split Republika Srpska. He finds support for these movements against the Dayton Agreement in Belgrade and Moscow.
