
Riot police have arrested protesters allegedly trying to attack Iranian embassies in London and Paris.
They come amid growing global concern after an Iranian woman was arrested and tortured to death by the Islamic regime for “wearing her hijab too loosely”, a family member has claimed.
Video footage from outside the British capital’s embassy shows a large group of people gathered, with police officers forming a line to stop the group from getting closer to the building.
Witnesses reported that some were trying to’ attack ‘Iranian embassies in both London and Paris after people entered their premises, ’throwing stones and chairs at the building’.
Protesters were calling for an end to the Islamic Republic of Iran, shouting and pushing against officers who had created a row in front of the embassy.
Crowds cheered ”Death to the Islamic Republic ” and waved Iran’s former national flag from before 1979.
Footage shared online also showed violent clashes breaking out between those in the crowd.
“Five people were arrested during the demonstration, with police officers injured from ‘significant group intended to cause unrest,’ ” Scotland Yard said.
“A significant police presence will remain in and around the area to monitor the situation,” police said.
They follow protests worldwide following the death of Mahsa Amini in police custody.
The 22-year-old Kurdish woman was arrested in Tehran by Iranian moral police, who believed she was wearing her hijab too loosely.
Protests erupted in northwestern Iran at the funeral of Amini, who died after falling into a coma following her detention.
Her cousin has since said she was ‘tortured and insulted’ before she died.
Violent unrests has since spread to at least 46 cities, towns and villages across the country following her death./Telegrafi/
