Unpleasant scenes in the Serbian Parliament – Unprecedented chaos erupted today during a session of the Parliament, when government and opposition MPs clashed and red and black smoke bombs were thrown.
The Assembly Hall was filled with smoke. The Speaker of Parliament, Ana Brnabić, was choking on smoke and shouting that the session must go on. It started when, after the adoption of the agenda, ZLF MEP Radomir Lazović tried to get to the chair, but was prevented from doing so by a security guard. He was followed by other opposition Members.
Then came pushing and shoving, people throwing water on each other, and a banner was raised saying “Serbia rise up, let the regime fall”.
The Minister of Police, Ivica Dačić, arrived at the Parliament.
Brnabić continued to chair the session, ministers were also present, and the opposition made noise. MEP Stefan Krkobabic announced that one MEP, allegedly Jasmina Karanac of the SNS, who had been hit by a smoke bomb, was in life-threatening danger.
Earlier, Ana Brnabić reported that Jasmina Obradović, the MEP who was hit by the shock bomb, had suffered a stroke and was fighting for her life. “Because of you, a woman is fighting for her life, and you continue to yammer, at least out of respect, what is one human life to you and to your colleague, who represents thousands and thousands of citizens who voted for this list and for her,” Brnabićeva said, adding, “Shame on you, is this how you defend student demands and funds for higher education?” All you wanted was to carry out a colour revolution, added Ana Brnabić, asking “is this your fifth October” and saying, “well, you will not succeed.”
The floor was taken by Dusan Bajatoviq, SPS MEP, to whom ZLF MEP Bogdan Radovanovic kept replying that “you won’t talk”. They were separated by Aleksandar Antić, and there were other Socialist and ZLF MEPs. There were whistles all the time, and in this way the opposition MEPs interrupted the presentation of anyone from the government.
It is expected that the resignation of Prime Minister Miloš Vučević will be announced at the Parlameint session./The Geopost/
