The deputy mayor of Zvecan, Natasa Tomanic, has reported that her business premise was deliberately set on fire by some people. She initially reported the case to the Kosovo police. While she said that the Serbian List is behind this act, as her activities do not fit with it.
“The Kosovar complainant reported that unknown persons had set fire to her boutique and the fire department had extinguished the fire. In the present case, the complainant suspects that the fire was deliberately set by suspicious persons. According to the complainant, the amount of damage is high. “The case is under investigation,” writes in the 24-hour police report, Kosovo Police announced today in the 24-hour report, writes The Geopost.
Afterward, Tomanic told Radio Free Europe that the arson was not an “accident,” adding that he suspects the motive is that she helped Serbs in northern Kosovo get hired in Kosovo institutions.
She emphasized that their activities “do not fit in with Srpska Lista”, the largest Serbian party in Kosovo, which enjoys the support of Belgrade.
“Then I have a question for them. Why are they fighting for the return to Kosovo’s institutions when we, who have entered Kosovo’s institutions, are traitors?” she said.
Tomanic also said that the damage caused by the fire amounted to several thousand euros.
Even Veton Elshani, deputy police director for the northern region, told the media that there is a suspicion that the fire was deliberately caused and announced that the case is still under investigation.
The prime minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, also reacted to this, blaming the criminal structures in the north of the country.
“Exactly on March 8, criminal elements in Zvecan decided again and again for violence, terror and attacks, this time on private property, in the store of the deputy mayor of Zvecan municipality, Ms. Natasa Tomanic. This seems to be her “congratulations” on March 8 to Vice President Tomanić and to all Serbs who want integration in Kosovo, liberation from the criminal structures that threaten them, and independence from official Belgrade, which is blackmailing them. International Women’s Day is characterized by gratitude, care, love and a shared commitment to equality. Not violence and terror. “The answer to such acts and those responsible is the rule of law,” Kurti wrote on Facebook.
He also requested a response from the QUINT states and the head of the EU in Kosovo.
“As for the Kosovo Serbs who continue to face physical and psychological violence and constant threats, there is support and encouragement to carry out their will to the end. We hope that Quint’s ambassadors and the Head of the EU Office, Mr Tomas Szunyog, will severely condemn this criminal, terrorist and cowardly act,” Kurti said.
Meanwhile, Deputy Minister of Administration and Local Government Arber Vokrri said that in his opinion the bandits did this to scare the Serbs liberated from the Serbian List.
“Terrorists and bandits feel emboldened every time internationals ask the Republic of Kosovo to give up its sovereignty and law enforcement,” he wrote on Facebook /TheGeopost/.
