The withdrawal of Russian forces from the Kharkiv region “is a tacit recognition of Russia’s inability to take over key Ukrainian cities,” the British Ministry of Defense said in its latest intelligence report on the situation in Ukraine.
In a message on Twitter, the Ministry of Defense pointed out that Ukrainian forces are continuing counterattacks in the north of Kharkov and that they have recaptured several towns and villages.
It is also stated that the Russian setting of priorities in the operations in Donbas made the forces in the area of Kharkov vulnerable.
Russia has withdrawn troops from Kharkov to reorganize and replenish its forces after heavy losses, it is noted.
After they are reconstructed, they will probably be deployed on the east bank of the Siverski Donjec river, the British ministry estimates. / VOA
