The Chairman of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Denis Becirovic, warned the world public from the podium of the United Nations, saying that the leadership of Serbia is once again threatening the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
“The claims to the territories of other countries for “Greater Serbia” are the main reason why Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Western Balkans are exposed to new dangers.” Becirovic said that the declaration of the so-called “All-Serbian Parliament” was proof of this.
He said that the declaration was not an ordinary declaratory act, but a dangerous programmatic document of the great state that threatens the Dayton Agreement and Bosnia and Herzegovina.
“The content of this declaration absolutely contradicts the practice in the democratic and civilized world, international and national law, the basic principles of the European Union and the principles on which the relations of UN members are based. This declaration poses a threat to the region, peace, independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity of Bosnia and Herzegovina,” said Becirovic.
The truth that Becirovic revealed to the United Nations about Serbia’s claims against neighboring countries did not please Serbia’s President Aleksandar Vucic, who called it a “notorious lie” and a “dangerous game of liars from Sarajevo”.
Regarding Becirovic’s alarming of the “Serbian world”, Vucic said he had been misinformed that Becirovic was trying to “incite the world against Serbia”.
Furthermore, Vucic described Becirovic as corrupt. However, of the members of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, only Serbian nationalist Milorad Dodik is sanctioned by the US for corruption and actions against Dayton.
In response to Becirovic’s statements, Serbia sent a letter of protest to the UN Secretary-General and the President of the General Assembly, stating that Becirovic had made a series of “baseless and malicious accusations” against Serbia and the Serbian people.
The so-called “All-Serb Assembly” had met in Belgrade, where the leaders of Serbia and the Bosnian Serb Republika Srpska called for “Serbian unity” throughout the region.
For this reason, Becirovic had previously warned that “such a scenario is only suitable for Putin’s Russia and it is therefore no coincidence that the highest Russian officials have publicly supported the holding of the ‘All-Serbian Assembly’”.
In this dangerous declaration, which emerged from this “All-Serbian Assembly” and was endorsed by Serbia and Republika Srpska, Kosovo was mentioned, with the claim that it was “an inalienable part of Serbia.”
