The Minister for European and International Affairs of the Republic of Austria, Beate Meinl-Reisinger, has responded to an interview given by the President of the Bosnia and Herzegovina entity, Milorad Dodik, to the Austrian media, in which he insulted her.
In an interview with “Die Presse”, Dodik criticised Meinl-Reisinger’s visit to Sarajevo at the beginning of April and said that “even in Austria there are suspicious ministers”.
“Dodik is under sanctions from the United States and the European Union sanctions have failed because of the Hungarian veto. He is violating the Constitution and the law, he is promoting the break-up of Bosnia and Herzegovina and he is working against his own people in Republika Srpska, because he wants to ban them from working in the state institutions of Bosnia and Herzegovina. He is increasingly isolated”, she declared on the X network.
She added that Dodik is playing with fire, undermining peace and creating uncertainty – especially for foreign businessmen who want to invest.
“Politicians should be opening routes like the one to the European Union, which many want and he despises. Not build walls. In Austria, we are partners with the Western Balkan countries on their path to the EU and we are proud of our Bosnian and Serbian fellow citizens in Austria”, she said in response.
