At least five people have been killed after a television tower was attacked in Kiev, Ukraine.
The tower was located near a memorial to Holocaust victims, the Ukrainian government said on March 1, as Russian forces bombed the main square in Kharkiv and other civilian locations in the eastern city.
Ukraine’s Interior Ministry posted pictures of smoke and fire coming out around the attacked tower. Meanwhile, the Foreign Ministry called the attack in Kiev “barbaric.”
Local media reported several explosions near the TV tower that interrupted the broadcasting of some media for a short time.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said on Twitter that five people had been killed. He also expressed his anger that the bombings took place near the memorial dedicated to the massacre perpetrated by the Nazis.
He had also said earlier in the day that the bombings in Kharkiv were war crimes. The latest bombings come at a time when a convoy of Russian troops, more than 65 kilometers long, has set off for Kiev./REL
