Students in Serbia have collected more than 393,000 signatures in the nationwide campaign “Declare Victory,” an initiative directed against Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić.
In a post on the social network X, the students said this was the first nationwide field action of its kind and that the public response exceeded the organizers’ expectations.
“Nearly 400,000 signatures in a single day. The first nationwide field action across Serbia,” the students wrote, adding that support came from citizens of diverse backgrounds, including soldiers, police officers, and the elderly.
They particularly highlighted the strong response from pensioners.
“We did not expect such a reaction from older citizens. Pensioners, our apologies,” the statement read, underscoring the scale of public support.
According to the students, the campaign will continue in the coming days.
They announced a new field tour and the establishment of additional information stands in cities across the country.
“We will just keep moving around. There will only be stands,” said the blocked initiative of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering (ETF).
In closing, the students reiterated that 393,045 signatures have been collected so far and expressed confidence that, with the support of the diaspora, the number will soon reach and surpass 400,000.
“Call the elections, you cowards,” the students said in a message addressed to Vučić, as reported by N1.
Bogdan Timotijević, a law student from Niš, described the signature-collection day as extremely successful, calling the action a major political blow to the Serbian president.
“It was an endless column of people and a strong tailwind that made it clear to us—and to the traitorous government—what time it is,” Timotijević said.
He added that the president reacted nervously that day, appearing several times in public.
“He behaved like a frightened child whose toy had been taken away. I think this scared the president and that he received proof he will lose the elections. He is completely unraveling,” the student concluded./The GeoPost/
