Ukraine and Russia will hold a new round of talks in Turkey on Monday (March 28th). This was announced by a member of the Ukrainian negotiating team, David Arakhamia.
“The next round of talks will be held until March 30 in Turkey,” said Ukrainian negotiator David Arakhamia.
Previous talks with Russia, launched after the February 24 invasion, have been described by Ukraine as “very difficult”.
A previous meeting took place in Ankara, Turkey, on March 7th.
The foreign ministers of the two countries, Sergey Lavrov of Russia and Dmitry Kuleba of Ukraine, met there.
In these negotiations no agreement was reached with the parties.
The meeting was mediated by Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu.
As fighting continues in Ukraine, the United Nations Office for Human Rights said on Sunday, March 27, that 1,119 civilians had been killed and 1,790 wounded since the start of the Russian occupation of Ukraine on February 24.
Among the dead according to the UN were about 15 girls and 32 boys, as well as 52 children, whose gender is not yet known.
These UN figures cover the period from February 24 to March 26.
The current death toll is expected to be significantly higher.
