Former Minister of Defense of the Republic of Albania, Pandeli Majko, has reacted after the statement of Russian Foreign Minister, Sergei Lavrov, who stated that mercenaries from Albania and Kosovo are being sent to the Donbas area in Ukraine to throw Russia off balance.
Majko did this through a post on Facebook, where he described this statement as unprecedented.
He has also published a news item specifying the nationalities of the volunteers who went to help Ukraine, of which neither Albania nor Kosovo are part.
"Sergei Lavrov, the Foreign Minister of the Russian Federation, made an unprecedented statement today about Albanian "mercenaries" from Albania and Kosovo who are being sent to the Donbas area in Ukraine. Before the Embassy of the Russian Federation in Tirana provides explanations (if it will)... India's WION Television Channel has made a special chronicle about the "map" of the national affiliation of the volunteers who have gone to help Ukraine," writes Majko.
In a joint press conference with Greek Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, he said that mercenaries from the Balkans have been sent to this region.
"Kosovo and some other parts of the Western Balkans are becoming a breeding ground for crime. There are terrorists, drug traffickers. It is a recruiting ground for mercenaries who participate in conflicts that are gradually being instigated, including by the United States. There is information that mercenaries are being recruited in Kosovo, Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina and are being sent to Donbass, among other things, to throw Russia off balance. We are reviewing this information," the Russian Foreign Minister said.
