The US Ambassador to Kosovo, Jeffrey Hovenier, has congratulated Kosovo on its 14th anniversary of independence. He calls the achievements of our country in these years a miracle. Hovenier says that the partnership between the two countries will continue to strengthen.
"Today, Kosovo celebrates 14 years of independence - 14 years as a sovereign country and as a reliable partner of the United States of America. Kosovo's achievements in 14 short years are nothing short of a miracle - a vibrant democracy, a capable economy, and leadership that Kosovo carries beyond its borders. The United States of America is proud to call Kosovo a partner and friend", said the ambassador.
The ambassador also promised a stable partnership between America and Kosovo.
"As we celebrate this momentous day together, I promise you that the enduring partnership we enjoy between our two countries – Kosovo and the United States of America – will only continue to grow in the years to come," said Hovenier.
In the end, the American ambassador repeated his statement that the USA supports the dialogue with reaching a comprehensive agreement with Serbia focused on mutual recognition without sacrificing Kosovo's sovereignty or violating its constitution.
"How are we going to do this? Together! First, by supporting progress in the EU-facilitated dialogue. We wish to see Kosovo fully engaged in the region and integrated into European and Euro-Atlantic institutions. This means reaching a comprehensive agreement with Serbia focused on mutual recognition WITHOUT sacrificing Kosovo's sovereignty, its territorial integrity or violating its Constitution", he asserted.
The ambassador mentioned three stable points that, according to him, will create progress in Kosovo, after reaching the agreement with Serbia.
"First, it means continuing to support the development of the Kosovo Security Force into a multi-ethnic, NATO-interoperable land defense force that is not only capable of protecting Kosovo's borders, but also, as already demonstrated, contributes to joint global security missions and supports effective response to natural disasters.
Second, by supporting efforts towards good governance and further strengthening independent rule of law institutions, we want to assist Kosovo as it continues to build sustainable, efficient public institutions that deliver services and dispense justice fairly to all citizens while at the same time eradicating corruption.
Third, and finally, we will continue to help you as you build a sustainable and dynamic economy. An economy that prioritizes the diversification of energy sources and has a secure and sustainable supply of electricity; that boasts a strong private sector; attracts foreign direct investment; protects the environment; and retains innovative talent. So today, we stand with Kosovo to celebrate with you. We congratulate you on all your achievements and welcome opportunities to support you as you seize the opportunities that lie ahead.”
"So, today, we stand with Kosovo to celebrate with you. We congratulate you on all your achievements and welcome opportunities to support you as you seize the opportunities that lie ahead. Happy Independence Day, Kosovo," said US Ambassador Hovenier in his letter.
