“NATO is already in Ukraine” is the disinformation statement by Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova, which was published in several Russian media on Tuesday and also broadcast in Serbia.
What did Zakharova say?
“It is no secret to anyone that the soldiers of NATO countries have been in Ukraine for a long time and actively support the Ukrainian army, including in the use of weapons delivered to Kiev,” Zakharova said, adding that French President Emmanuel Macron said nothing new.
Analysis:
This is the constant disinformation of Russia’s foreign affairs spokeswoman, Maria Zakharova, because Ukrainian soldiers are fighting in Ukraine and there are no NATO troops. This disinformation statement by Zakharova is a consequence of the enormous losses suffered by the Russian army in the field.
NATO chief Jens Stoltenberg also said that the US-led military alliance had no plans to send troops to Ukraine after other Central European leaders confirmed that they would not contribute troops either.
Meanwhile, the Kremlin has warned that a direct conflict between NATO and Russia is inevitable if the alliance deploys combat troops. “In this case, we should not talk about the probability, but about the inevitability (of the conflict),” Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters.
