Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova has claimed that the West is supposedly planning to destabilize the situation in Serbia, where students have been protesting for days after the collapse of the train station roof.
What did Zakharova say?
“Western countries are developing plans to destabilize the situation in Serbia, using mechanisms inspired by ‘color revolutions’ and pressure on the legitimate authorities in the country,” she said.
“They are trying to push the leadership to the line where they will have to choose: to continue the policy for the benefit of their people or to return to the path of compromise,” the message published by the Russian Foreign Ministry says.
She also mentioned Kosovo, continuing to disinform that supposedly “the Government of Kosovo, with the consent of the US and the EU, is making efforts to expel the Serbian population from Kosovo.”
Analysis:
The claims of the Russian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson, Maria Zakharova, are a continuation of the Russian narrative, where through disinformation the West is intended to be seen as an obstacle and the cause of problems in Serbia.
It is not true that the West has a hand in the protests that are taking place in the Serbian state, since the West supports the right to express itself even through protest.
The reason for the protests in Serbia is the tragedy in Novi Sad, where protesters are demanding justice for the works at the train station.
The Russian narrative always comes to the aid of the Serbian regime when it has internal problems, in this case with disinformation that the Serbian population is allegedly being expelled from Kosovo, when it is known that in Kosovo Serbs enjoy extraordinary rights as a national minority.
