Russia’s Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova has disinformed that “the West is responsible for the attack on ‘Nord Stream 1’ and ‘Nord Stream 2’” in an attempt to absolve itself of responsibility.
Zakharova said:
“On the issue of investigating deviations in the Nord Stream 1 and Nord Stream 2 gas pipelines, the West absolves itself of responsibility. The West’s task is to absolve itself of responsibility for the terrorist attack on Nord Stream,” Zakharova said.
Analysis:
So far, there is no evidence linking Western governments or their allies to the Nord Stream attack. Investigations by Germany, Sweden and Denmark have found no involvement by Western countries. Russia, on the other hand, has not provided any concrete evidence to support its claims.
Germany, together with other European countries, is actively conducting independent investigations into the Nord Stream attack. These investigations involve international experts and are conducted to the highest standards of transparency and professionalism.
Such statements come at a time when Russia is trying to divert attention from its actions and destabilize trust in Western institutions. This is just one case in a series of attempts by the Kremlin to create an atmosphere of mistrust towards the West.
