Danijela Vujicic, Chair of the Kosovo Committee in the Serbian government, disinformed for Večernje Novosti that Kosovo’s Prime Minister Albin Kurti is allegedly using the weakening of Serbia for “ethnic cleansing”.
Vujicic said:
“Weakening Serbia can only help Albin Kurti to increase his anti-Serb torture and terror against our people, which would result in further escalation and complication of the situation in the southern Serbian province, with the aim of provoking a conflict between the Serbs and the so-called Kosovo police, and possibly with KFOR to carry out a final ethnic cleansing.
It is clear that Kurti has the same objective as his political surrogates in Belgrade who are exploiting these protests and the people, Dragan Đilas and Dragan Šolak, i.e. to cause unrest, instability, tension and escalation of the situation, and to overthrow President Vucic and at the same time to weaken the state of Serbia and to create the dream of an independent Kosovo'”
Analysis:
As Prime Minister of Kosovo, Kurti often stresses the need to maintain order in Kosovo in accordance with international law and with the support of the international community. All measures taken by the Kosovo Police to suppress violence and maintain peace and order in the north of Kosovo, which until recently was not the case, are carried out in accordance with the law and under the supervision of international institutions.
Similarly, the claims made by Vujičić about the alleged ‘ethnic cleansing’ are intended to avoid the dissatisfaction of the citizens of Serbia with the current political situation.
The claims that Albin Kurti and the opposition leaders in Belgrade are in cahoots with a view to destabilising Serbia and supporting Kosovo’s independence are completely unfounded and without a single fact. Although the opposition in Serbia is critical of the policies of Aleksandar Vucic, there is no evidence to confirm any link between Kurti and the opposition leaders in Serbia. The opposition leaders in Belgrade are mainly focusing on internal problems and criticising the ruling government on internal issues, not in relation to Kosovo.
Vujicic is known for her nationalist statements and last year she supported violent protests in the north of Kosovo./The Geopost/
