Official Belgrade and the Serbian List disinformed about Kosovo police that allegedly brutally beat up some young Serbs in North Mitrovica. First the Prime Minister of Serbia, Miloš Vučević, then Serbian List and finally the President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, reacted.
What did they say?
Vučević: “According to the information I have… three Serbs, young men of Serbian nationality, were beaten in the north, dragged out of a building and beaten, and a fourth was arrested, who recorded it all on his cell phone, which recorded the repression and attack on Serbian youth.”
Srpska Lista: “The brutal beatings and arrests of three young Serbs in northern Mitrovica are proof of the brutality of the Kosovo police against Serbs, led by Albin Kurti, which has become routine in northern Kosovo.” This is not the first time that there is clear evidence of the brutality of Kurti’s subordinates and that there is neither control over the Kosovo Inspectorate nor a response from international representatives to the institutional oppression of the Serbian people. The established practice of denying Serbian doctors the right to examine those detained, thereby obscuring the evidence of brutality against the bare-handed youth. This excessive use of force and the arrest of a young man was followed by beatings, humiliation and threats with firearms on the city promenade in the center of North Mitrovica.
Vučić: “We will do everything possible for this plan and for this issue, because now it is completely clear that Kurti wants the destruction and persecution of the Serbian people, and I think that is clear not only for us, but also for everyone else.” . We are in a situation where the Serbs cannot do anything that anyone in the modern world can do, and all thanks to the illegal, criminal decisions of Albin Kurti, and with all this from Europe and Quint, they have seen only condemning words and nothing in action. We will respond to you in the next 72 hours with serious measures. Serbia is always in favor of dialogue, I am always ready for it, but Serbia will not allow the persecution of the Serbian people.”
Analysis:
Four young Serbs were arrested by Kosovo Police on September 10 for attacking two Kosovo Police officers in the square north of Mitrovica, one of them was also injured. The Kosovo Police Head of Operations for the northern region, Petrit Fejza, gave the official version of the incident to the media in Kosovo.
“On 10.09.2024, four adults insulted and attacked two policemen on the promenade of North Mitrovica and then left it, injuring one of the policemen. The police units managed to arrest the suspects in the street “Knjaz Milos”. The same were sent to the police station and then sent for a medical examination. “The same people were tested for alcohol and it turned out that three of them were under the influence of alcohol. By order of the prosecutor’s office, they were remanded in custody,” Fejza said.
As for the person who claimed that she was only arrested because she had filmed the moment of arrest, this was also not true, as she was also part of the group during the attack on the police officers and was under the influence of alcohol.
Even the pictures published by some Serbian politicians do not show any violence against them, except that they were handcuffed./The Geopost/
