The President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, has disinformed that it is Kosovo that wants war, while Serbia wants peace. He also continued the propaganda that ethnic cleansing against Serbs is taking place in Kosovo.
What did Vucic say?
“There was no dialog between Belgrade and Pristina because Pristina didn’t want it,” adding, ”There is talk of war in Pristina, but Serbia doesn’t want war.”
“We don’t like to go to war and we don’t intend to go to war. We just want to preserve our constitution, vital national and state interests, respect for the Albanians, talks and solving problems through dialog.” I’m afraid that we didn’t have a dialog precisely because one side, which is not Serbian, didn’t want this dialog,” he said.
He said he believes that circumstances will change in the future and that, as he said, “someone will understand that everyone can benefit from dialog, but also from compromise.”
“Solving problems through threats and ethnic cleansing of Serbs in northern Kosovo is not a serious policy and does not bring good results.”
Vucic made these statements from Geneva in Switzerland when he was asked about the situation of the Albanians in the Presheva Valley.
Analysis:
Vucic disinformed when he says that it is the Kosovo side that wants war, while Serbia itself constantly uses divisive language and that “the Serbian people in Kosovo must be protected”. Vucic had sent the army to the Kosovo border whenever tensions arose in northern Kosovo, instigated by gangs he controlled and led on his orders. His actions were seen as threats of war.
When Vucic says that “we are only protecting our constitution”, he means that part of his territory is Kosovo, which is a clear language that he does not accept Kosovo’s borders.
Furthermore, Vucic disinforms that the Kosovar side does not agree to dialog. The Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, has asked several times that Serbia sign the Ohrid Agreement and start implementing its points, but it was Vučić who refused and joked that he had a “sick hand”./The Geopost/
