The Serbian Ministry of Interior and the Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić disinformed that a group of heavily armed Kosovar police had crossed the border with Serbia. Vucic disinformed that Kurti deliberately ordered the illegal crossing.
What did Vučić and the MIA say?
The Serbian Ministry of Defense announced that a group of heavily armed Kosovo policemen had crossed the border line in the village of Čirković in Leposavic in an unauthorized manner.
“The unauthorized crossing of the administrative border is a dangerous provocation and a threat to peace.” The Serbian army is monitoring the situation on the ground and is ready to respond on the basis of the Kumanovo military-technical agreement. The Ministry of Defense asks KFOR, as the only legal and legitimate military force on the territory of Kosovo, to take action in accordance with its mandate and to prevent the Pristina transitional authorities from trying to cause an escalation of violence,” said the Serbian Ministry of Defense.
Meanwhile, Vucic said: “I don’t expect a reaction, except that I expect a reaction from the Americans.” The Americans know that Kurt ordered it on purpose. He expected these people to be liquidated and that would be his reason to bring NATO into conflict with Serbia.”
He told RTS when asked what reaction KFOR expected.
“Next time we will respond according to the full rules of engagement and ask the Americans to tell us if we are right when we say that Kurti personally ordered the provocation and the entry of his forces into the territory of central Serbia, into the region of Čirkovic,” said Vučić.
Analysis:
Kosovo Police has categorically denied that its police crossed the border with Serbia.
“In order to correctly inform the public and citizens, the Kosovo Police (KP) responds to some articles published mainly in the Serbian media referring to an announcement by the Serbian Ministry of Defense that, according to them, a heavily armed members of the Kosovo Police have crossed the border with Serbia in the north of the country without permission. Such writings referred to in the announcement of the Serbian Ministry of Defense are untrue and have no validity. Therefore, these writings and the announcement published as such constitute misinformation aimed at creating uncertainty among the citizens of this region and tarnishing the work of the Kosovo Police. “Kosovo Police, as a reliable and transparent institution, will continuously take care to provide official information to the media and the public whenever it is requested and needed by the media and the public,” stated Kosovo Police in rejecting the disinformation Belgrade.
