This week began with Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova’s misinformation, in which she described visa liberalization for Kosovo citizens as “a reward from the EU for the ethnic cleansing of Serbs”.
This was immediately followed by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov’s propaganda that “the Albanian factor in the Balkans will explode”, with the aim of promoting ethnic tensions in the Balkans via Serbia, which serves as its satellite.

The Kosovo Security Force also got the attention of the Russians, for which they misinformed by claiming that Great Britain is sending Albanians to fight in Ukraine.
“Are the British sending Kosovo Albanians to fight in Ukraine?” was the title of an article by the Belgrade-based portal “Russia Today Balkan”, published on 30.01.2024. Through this title, this portal conveyed false information about the British embassy in Pristina as well as about the Kosovo security forces.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov has not stopped drawing a parallel between the annexation of Crimea and the independence of Kosovo. This was his next propaganda, Lavrov made these statements in a press conference that was broadcast in several Russian media as well as in Serbia.

Serbian Defense Minister Milos Vučević also published false information, falsely accusing the Kosovo police of “kidnapping” health workers.
“Impossible conditions are being created in Kosovo, from entering institutions to kidnappings, arrests and detention of health workers, and the basic health care of the Serbian people in Kosovo is being made impossible,” Vučević claimed, while in the joint statement of the The Kosovo Police and the Prosecutor’s Office in Prishtina, explained the actions of the police in the case of the NGO “Centar za mir i Toleranciju”.
Russia’s foreign affairs spokesperson Maria Zakharova once again addressed misinformation about Kosovo. In a conversation with journalists on 31 January, Zakharova this time dealt with the Serbian churches in Kosovo and misinformed that the institutions in Pristina want to “erase” the traces of the Serbs’ presence and albanize their identity, which they have had for centuries.
On Friday, it was once again proven in Serbia that the media is controlled by the government and Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić by publishing an article with the same title in 10 of those.
