Top Russian-Serbian disinformation of the past week

“The imposition of sanctions against the Russian Federation is a prerequisite for Serbia’s membership of the European Union,” was the misinformation from Serbian Deputy Prime Minister Aleksandar Vulin last week.

Almost all Russian media reported this news. Vulin’s statements are part of the extensive propaganda that is carried out in Serbia, so that the citizens, to whom the Russians appear as brothers, hate the EU, although the EU is the largest donor in Serbia.

While the election of Kaja Kallas as the head of European diplomacy attracted the attention of Russian officials who propagandized and manipulated opinions.

It was the portals Russia Today (a medium banned in several European countries for spreading false information) as well as RT Balkan – in Serbian language, which tried to misinform the public through a disinformation headline “She eats Russians for breakfast: Who is Kaja Kalass, the next EU foreign policy chief?”, whose aim is to increase readership.

Some Russian officials have suggested that the policy advocated by Kallas will only lead to further escalation. Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said Kallas’ appointment would “increase the level of madness” in Brussels.

NATO was once again the target of Russian propaganda.

Retired General Milorad Stupar, founder and first commander of Serbia’s 72nd Special Operations Brigade, falsely informs that allegedly “the Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, is persecuting the Serbs with the tacit support of the West” and that “he is doing this directly. in connection with the construction of NATO bases around Serbia.”

And the president of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic, misinformed that allegedly “Bayraktar drones have been observing the movements of the Serbian army”.

But it was Kosovo’s Ministry of Defense that denied Vucic in a response to The Geopost. From that department, they stated that Kosovo’s security forces do not coordinate drone missions outside the country’s borders.

“There is no news that we are conducting operations outside the borders of Kosovo or coordinating with anyone. The purpose of our air capabilities is to support operations on the territory of Kosovo.”/The Geopost/
