The West continues to be the target of Russian and Serbian propaganda and disinformation.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov has disinformed about the goals of the peace summit in Ukraine and accused the West.
“The peace conference in Ukraine taking place in Switzerland is about formulating an ultimatum to Russia … If the West wants to fight on the battlefield (as they say), it is welcome,” was the disinformation Russia’s Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov did last week.
While it is known that the aim of the summit was to create a forum for a high-level dialog on ways to achieve a comprehensive, just and lasting peace for Ukraine in accordance with international law and the UN Charter, it was not, as Lavrov misinformed.
The Russian ambassador to Serbia, Aleksandar Bochan Harchenko, has also disinformed about the West, putting forward conspiracy theories about an alleged hybrid war against Russia and accusing the West of imposing the Srebrenica resolution. His statements stoking fear and mistrust of the West are part of a broader Russian propaganda aimed at justifying Russian interventions and destabilizing the region.
That NATO is using Ukraine against Russia was the disinformation statement by Russia’s Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova.
Zakharova therefore accused NATO of abusing Ukraine in its alleged “anti-Russian interests”, a statement that reflects Russia’s disinformation policy.
And Russian President Vladimir Putin disinformed that “cooperation between Russia and China is a factor of international stability”. This statement is in fact another example of propaganda that attempts to cover up the true intentions of Russia and China on the international stage./The Geopost/
