The spokeswoman of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Maria Zakharova is using the terrorist attack in Moscow to blame Ukraine. She disinformed that the suspected attackers of this attack were planning to hide in Ukraine and linked it to Kosovo.
What did Zakharova say?
“The terrorists who participated in the attack in Moscow have been arrested not far from the Ukrainian border, she said that Ukraine has surpassed the so-called Kosovo in terms of terrorism. The same country that, in the hands of Western liberal regimes, has become a center for the spread of terrorism in Europe for ten years, surpassing even Kosovo in extremist madness. Now we know in which country these bloody bastards planned to hide from persecution – in Ukraine.”
Analysis:
Zakharova falsely states that the attackers tried to hide in Ukraine when the ISIS militant group has already claimed responsibility for the terrorist attack. The Islamic State group claimed responsibility for the attack in a statement posted on its social media channels. Russia is not being attacked by ISIS for the first time. In the 2004 Beslan school siege, Islamist militants took more than 1,000 people hostage, including hundreds of children.
Zakharova also disinformed when she linked this to Kosovo because it has nothing to do with it. Kosovo is safe from terrorism as it continues its anti-terrorism cooperation with the United States and the international community as a member of the Global Coalition to Defeat ISIS. The Government of Kosovo has drawn up several strategies with action plans against terrorism.
Since the terrorist attack in Moscow was reported in the media and social networks, an onslaught of disinformation began, accusing Ukraine of involvement. Such disinformation is also coming from the official Kremlin without any basis.
Ukraine has categorically denied the accusations of involvement, which it called absurd. This was first denied by the military intelligence directorate of Ukraine, and then through a new statement Mykhaylo Podolyak, an aide to the Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelensky, said that the versions of the Russian special services regarding Ukraine are absolutely unstable and absurd.
