The medium of Russian President Vladimir Putin’s regime in Russia, “Sputnik”, which broadcasts “Sputnik Srbija” in Serbia, spread disinformation in an article published on March 11 that Ukrainian soldiers are considering the possibility of overthrowing Volodymyr Zelensky.
What did Sputnik write?
“The commanders and fighters of the elite units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine are not satisfied with the changes in the military leadership of Ukraine and are seriously considering the possibility of removing Volodymyr Zelensky from the post of head of state.” They are seriously considering ways to overthrow the current government and the command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. If the people do not protect Zaluzhny, if the soldiers do not protect Zaluzhny, then this rat will torpedo everything. Let’s remove the green mouse and install Zaluzhny.
Analysis:
“Sputnik” aims with this message to promote division among the Ukrainian people in order to destroy the unity between them. However, this claim by the propaganda medium does not hold up as long as Zelenskyi enjoyed 90 percent support from his people for two consecutive years during the Russian occupation. In February 2023, over 90 percent of the Ukrainian population approved of Volodymyr Zelensky’s activities as president of the country. The rating was at about the same level as in June 2022. In addition, the Russian media falsely informs that Ukrainian soldiers love Valery Zaluzhny, the former military chief, more than Zelensky, although it is known that relations between the two were never strained. Moreover, on March 7, Zelensky appointed him ambassador to the United Kingdom.
