The director of the Office for Kosovo in the Serbian government, Petar Petkovic, has misinformed that the Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, caused new tensions with his visit to the four northern municipalities of Kosovo. He also disinformed that the Serbs in the north reacted against Kurti’s visit.
What did Petkovic say?
“The Serbs of the north reacted with contempt to Kurti’s new provocation. Just one day before the continuation of the dialogue in Brussels, Albin Kurti decided to create new tensions in the north of Kosovo by going to the municipality of Leposavic and then to Zubin Potok It is about a new threat to the Serbs in the north of Kosovo, an action with which Kurti wants to directly create new tensions in the north and with which he has shown that he is not interested in any normalization and de-escalation It is clear to me that Kurti has nothing to ask for in the north of Kosovo, where he is not welcome. Like any uninvited guest, Kurti had to be surrounded by the strong police phalanxes with long guns that accompanied him when he left the municipality of Leposavic, which is led by Vetevendosje (Movement for Self-Determination) through violence and terror with less than 100 votes.”
Analysis:
The Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, offered the mayors of the municipalities in the north the government’s support for the services they provide to all citizens without distinction. Petkovic misinforms when he says that Kurti went there to raise tensions because his visits were focused on the mayors of the municipalities. Petkovic also propagandizes when he says that Serbs reacted against his visit, while no citizen was seen reacting or protesting against him. In fact, the Prime Minister of Kosovo answered in Serbian the journalists’ questions about the issues that concern the citizens in this part of the country.
Petkovic himself in the case where he says that Leposavic is led by violence and terror is misinformed because there has been no violence on the part of the municipal government against any citizen. In May last year, Albanian mayors took power in the four northern municipalities after the elections were boycotted by Serbian List, the largest party of Serbs in Kosovo./G.Venhari- The Geopost/
