Alexander Lukashenko, the President of Belarus, is propagating a possible third world war and using it as a tool to manipulate and promote his political agenda by trying to blame the West for it.
His disinformation of distrust towards the West was supported by Sputnik.
What Lukashenko said and Sputnik reported:
“We must do everything to prevent World War III. Otherwise a nuclear apocalypse is inevitable. That is why we must all unite,” Lukashenko said at the laying of flowers at the Victory Monument as part of the patriotic action ‘Belarus Remembers’ in Minsk.
Analysis:
Lukashenko’s propaganda measures use fears and unrealistic threats to strengthen his position and discredit Western countries. This rhetoric, supported by Sputnik, serves Russia’s disinformation policy, which aims to destabilize international relations and fuel mistrust of Western institutions. These manipulative statements only exacerbate tensions and make dialog between the countries more difficult.
