Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov has disinformed the public by claiming that the Ukrainians could not have sabotaged the Nord Stream gas pipeline without the help of the USA.
Lavrov said:
“Without US support, the Ukrainians could not sabotage the Russian Nord Stream gas pipeline in the Baltic Sea, and Germany must answer all the questions raised by Russia. Even if the Ukrainians were involved, it is clear that they could not do it alone.” “It is clear that the order to carry out such an attack had to come from the highest level, and from the highest level, because the West is, of course – Washington,” Lavrov said, TASS reports.
Analysis:
Lavrov presented no evidence to support the claim of US involvement in the North Stream attack. The investigations conducted by Germany, Sweden and Denmark are transparent and impartial and clearly show no evidence of US involvement. Such claims are part of a Russian plan to spread false information and propaganda.
While simultaneously ignoring the true interests of the US and Europe in maintaining the stability of energy resources, Russian rhetoric attempts to shift the blame for the sabotage onto the West. The West would have no reason to start sabotaging the Nord Stream pipeline as this would cause direct damage to European economies, including Germany, which relies on these resources.
These unsubstantiated statements are just the latest attempt by Moscow to divert attention from its own actions and stir up mistrust among Western allies. The Geopost/
