Is it possible for Ukraine to secretly join NATO later, if it accepts neutrality in the negotiations with Russia?
The Defense and Security Analyst Micheal Clarke has said that Ukraine can not secretly join NATO even if it accepts neutrality in negotiations to stop the war launched unprovoked by Russia. The response was given emphatically when asked on SkyNews. “You can not join NATO secretly,” Clarke said.
If you go to NATO headquarters there are 30 flags, 30 delegations, 30 offices, and 30 members of the North Atlantic Council who gather. “Secret negotiations got a very bad name in the 19th century because there were secret alliances and what they realized in World War I was that making secret deals is stupid.”
Clarke has said that membership is not kept secret because the state that enters the alliance wants the world to know this and that there are no misunderstandings or riots./The Geopost
“So, no, you can not join NATO secretly and you will not have the opportunity, because NATO is a liberal democratic group.”
