The Speaker of the Serbian Assembly, Ana Brnabić, has disinformed about the Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, that he wants war with Serbia. She also continued the disinformation spread by Serbian officials that “ethnic cleansing” against Serbs is taking place in Kosovo.
What did Bërnabić declare?
“The situation in Kosovo is the most serious so far, because apparently the prime minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, wants to ethnically cleanse the Serbs and provoke a conflict with Belgrade.” This is because, in my opinion, Kurti has no other solution and no other way out of his policy than to provoke an armed conflict, i.e. a war with Belgrade. That is why he is the most arrogant and reckless so far, because he is completely pressurized against the wall and that is the only way out. It is in our interest that the President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, tries to maintain peace.”
Analysis:
The speaker of the Serbian parliament disinforms that Prime Minister Albin Kurti wants a war with Serbia. This is not true, as both Kurti and the state of Kosovo itself want to make peace with Serbia and are therefore in dialogue in Brussels to reach an agreement to normalize relations. In fact, it was Serbia itself that refused to sign an agreement reached in Ohrid that would lead to a lasting peace between the two countries.
While disinforming about Kurti, Brnabic says about Serbian President Vučić that he is keeping the peace, when the opposite is true. Vucic continues to pursue the nationalist narrative of the 1990s against his neighbors and is the source of instability in the Western Balkans region.
Instead of implementing this agreement, Serbia undertook to foment unrest in Kosovo through illegal structures controlled from Belgrade. Dozens of KFOR soldiers were injured in these riots, some crippled, after being attacked by these Serbian groups in the north of Kosovo. While the terrorist group led by Milan Radojicic carried out a terrorist attack in Banjska. In addition, Serbia has frequently put the army on alert on the border with Kosovo as part of its conflict provocations.
