The Serbian newspaper “Alo” has published an exaggerated headline that does not match the text within the article. The headline states that there is a state of siege in Mitrovica in Kosovo and that the Kosovo Police with long barrels are raiding and mistreating Serbs.
What did Alo write?
“State of siege in Mitrovica, see how Kurti’s police with long barrels raid and mistreat Serbs”.
This headline was placed in the article by Alo, while within the text it is written: “Already during the morning it was noticeable that the special units were grouping in South Mitrovica, so that at around 13:00 they would enter the north of Mitrovica through the main bridge over the Ibar and through the Bosniak Mahalla. They have been deployed in columns and currently at least four to five members of the special units are at every intersection in the city. They are also positioned in front of buildings, and there are patrols on the streets.”
Analysis:
“Alo” has deliberately exaggerated the headline without providing any basis and facts, with the aim of causing panic and a false picture for the Serbian public.
Kosovo security institutions have increased their presence in the north of the country after the terrorist attack on November 29 on the vital Ibër-Lepenc water canal, on which the supply of drinking water for many areas depends and most importantly, water is taken from this canal to cool the Kosovo power plants.
Kosovo Police have announced that eight people have been arrested on suspicion of involvement in this terrorist attack, while guaranteeing that innocent citizens do not need to be afraid of the actions of the Police in the north because the targets are those who caused the terrorist attack.
The Director of the Kosovo Police, Gazmend Hoxha, has called on citizens in the north to cooperate with the Police on this case and has also called for them to feel safe.
