Politika, one of the most influential daily newspapers in Serbia, known for its conservative and nationalist orientation, disinforms that Pristina and Sarajevo are preparing an invasion of Serbia.
The Politika portal writes:
“Sarajevo and Pristina have been continuously hitting war notes invented by someone in the West for the last few months. Instead of prosperity and cooperation for the whole region, some want to put on a camouflage uniform and instead of creating jobs, to secure their place in history through military attacks on Serbs and Serbia, they dream of solving the Serbian question in their own chauvinistic way and of starting and triggering a conflict, in which, of course, NATO would inevitably intervene, which could lead to a Serbian-Serbian conflict. The Serbian President, Aleksandar Vucic, spoke a few days ago to some of the most powerful countries in the world, and such a scenario could lead to the end of modern Serbia without the political wisdom that Belgrade has shown.
Analysis:
Referring to statements by Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic, the Politika portal disinforms that there is a risk of NATO intervention in the event of a conflict between Serbia and other countries in the region.
However, an analysis of this statement reveals a lack of concrete evidence to support the claims made by Poltika. There are no official statements from Sarajevo and Pristina confirming the use of war rhetoric, nor is there any evidence that the West is actively plotting war scenarios for the Balkans. NATO has also made no statements supporting possible intervention in a potential conflict.
The training of security forces is common practice in many countries and is not just about preparing for an attack. Such activities include a wide range of training and exercises that are part of basic military practice.
The Kosovo Security Force (KSF) was created to maintain order, peace and security in Kosovo, especially after the terrorist attack in Banjska, when a group of Serbian terrorists led by Milan Radocic attacked the Kosovo Police.
The Politika portal ignored standard military training procedures used around the world and accused Kosovo of preparing an attack on Serbia, even though it is Serbia that is constantly arming itself.
Politika also manipulates the facts to support the narrative of Serbia as a victim. For example, the claims of military training and military build-up in BiH and Kosovo are not supported by concrete evidence and facts.
On the other hand, there are no official statements from the leaders of BiH and Kosovo, nor is there any confirmation that Sarajevo and Pristina have used war rhetoric against Serbia in recent months, as Politika states.
